Instacart's Fizz App Revolutionizes Party Planning: No More Awkward Bill Splitting

Instacart's newest app, Fizz, is about to transform how we prepare for gatherings. Launched today, this party-focused platform elegantly solves one of socializing's oldest headaches: the dreaded post-party Venmo requests.
Fizz allows party hosts to create a shared cart where guests can add their own drinks and snacks, paying only for what they contribute. "This completely removes the awkward step or tradition that people currently follow after a gathering, which is splitting the bill," explains Daniel Danker, Instacart's chief product officer.
What makes Fizz particularly appealing is its simplicity. Hosts pay just a $5 flat delivery fee, guests don't need to download the app to participate, and everyone gets exactly what they want. As Partiful CEO Shreya Murthy aptly puts it, "We basically productized BYOB".
The app cleverly targets younger demographics who approach gatherings differently. "The younger generation... tend to feel a need to share in the cost of a gathering," notes Danker, while ensuring everyone's dietary preferences are respected.
With rewards like "Snack Bucks" for purchasing drinks and integration with popular event planning app Partiful, Fizz isn't just solving a logistics problem-it's enhancing how we socialize.
Available in 30 states where alcohol delivery is legal, Fizz represents Instacart's strategic move to diversify beyond grocery delivery while tapping into Gen Z's social habits.
For your next gathering, that last-minute store run might finally be a thing of the past.
