Lynne Ramsay’s "Die, My Love" Set to Dazzle Cannes With Jennifer Lawrence and Robert Pattinson

Lynne Ramsay’s highly anticipated Die, My Love is set to electrify Cannes as a late addition to the 2025 competition lineup, marking Ramsay’s return to the Croisette after her acclaimed You Were Never Really Here in 2017. Starring Jennifer Lawrence (who also produces) and Robert Pattinson, the film adapts Ariana Harwicz’s searing novel about a new mother’s descent into psychosis and isolation in rural America.
Lawrence’s portrayal of a woman unraveling under the weight of motherhood and a distant husband (Pattinson) promises to be both raw and haunting. The supporting cast—Nick Nolte, Sissy Spacek, and LaKeith Stanfield—adds further depth to this dark, psychological thriller. Shot in 35mm with a nod to Polanski’s Repulsion and Rosemary’s Baby, Ramsay’s vision is expected to be both visually arresting and emotionally intense.
With Die, My Love, Ramsay becomes the seventh female director in this year’s competition, setting a new Cannes record. As the festival’s chief Thierry Fremaux noted, this year’s lineup “reflects the diversity and dynamism of contemporary cinema”. All eyes will be on Ramsay and her cast as they bring this harrowing, intimate story to the world stage.
