Stephen King's "The Long Walk" Trailer Reveals a Chilling Dystopian Contest

The first trailer for Stephen King's "The Long Walk" has arrived, offering a haunting glimpse into what might be the author's bleakest story brought to life. Directed by Francis Lawrence (of "The Hunger Games" fame), this adaptation follows 100 teenage boys forced to participate in a deadly walking contest where only one survives.
Mark Hamill stars as the menacing Major overseeing the competition, delivering the chilling instruction to participants: "Walk until there's only one of you left." His voiceover sets an ominous tone throughout the trailer, with Hamill embracing the villain role, noting at CinemaCon, "If you're hated and hate your character, then you've done your job".
The impressive young cast includes Cooper Hoffman, David Jonsson, Charlie Plummer, and Roman Griffin Davis, who must maintain a walking speed above 3 miles per hour or face fatal consequences.
This adaptation has overcome significant development challenges, with filmmakers like George Romero and Frank Darabont previously attempting to bring the story to screen. Lawrence's version appears faithful to King's brutal vision, originally published under his Richard Bachman pseudonym.
"The Long Walk" premieres exclusively in theaters on September 12, 2025, promising an "intense, chilling, and emotional thriller" that asks viewers: how far could you go?
