PlayStation 5 owners have a new reason to celebrate. Sony has quietly rolled out Apple Pay support directly on the PS5 console this week, making it the first current-generation gaming system to offer this payment option.

Previously available only through the PlayStation app or web browsers, Apple Pay can now be used directly on your console when purchasing games from the PlayStation Store. The process is straightforward: select Apple Pay at checkout, scan the QR code on your TV screen with your iPhone, and confirm your purchase using Face ID or Touch ID.

For Apple Card users, this integration brings an added bonus –2% cash back on all PlayStation Store purchases.

Beyond the cash back benefits, the feature eliminates the need to enter card details or switch between devices when making purchases.

According to 9to5Mac, PS4 owners won't be left out either, as Apple Pay support is expected to arrive on the older console with an upcoming software update.

While Xbox and Nintendo Switch have yet to implement similar functionality, PlayStation's move signals a growing trend toward more flexible payment options in gaming.
